Your burning questions

From: Mark DeVol

Here are answers to some questions that came up Saturday at Paul's:

The Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell was originally cast in 1752, but was melted down and recast twice in 1753, the first time because it had cracked, the second time to try and improve the sound. That second casting in 1753 resulted in the Liberty Bell we have today, which is on display at the Liberty Bell Pavilion in Philadelphia. It is the actual Liberty Bell, not a replica. (The true cause of the crack after the final recasting is not known.) Here's an excellent Liberty Bell page if you'd like more info.

Coach's Challenges
In the NFL, a team gets two coach's challenges per game, whether or not they are upheld.

Football Material
An NFL football is made of tanned-in-tac Horween leather.
